It is the season to be jolly and especialy this week end as we have our Xmas shoot and later in the day our Christmas feast . This year it is to be at Dinas Dingle . A new resturant by the beach recently opened by our freind Gwynedd of Parc Glynllifion fame . so see you there on Sunday 12 Dec.

We were in Llanberis on Saturday the 18th providing some entertainment with our Archery 'have a go' which went well despite the inclement weather for the 35th Snowdonia run. We managed quite a good turnover on the day . Although things started slowly it gradually built up as the day progressed and we managed to raise a respectable sum for the club and give a donation to the organisers. Thanks to our supporters for your hard work and help on the day.

Friday Closure

Dear [ member,] we are writing to you to tell you why we have decided to close the Talysarn Junior Archery Club on Friday evenings.

In order to be able to shoot we have to have targets,safety nets and other equipment which is bought along in our trailer . Unfortunately the person who usually does this is unwell and cannot drive . Geoff has a small trailer which we have used but he is also unwell and cannot drive and there are no other members with cars and tow bars, so we have no way of getting the equipment we need to Talysarn and there is nowhere to store it there.

Because Geoff is unwell this means that Beryl will not be coming along either. Ian has decided to leave the club and as for myself [Peter] I am also waiting to go into hospital for an operation, which means I will not be able to come to Talysarn for a while. So even if we could get the equipment to Talyasrn there would be no coaches or seniors to supervise and we have to be sure that the safety rules are kept.

Because we have equipment stored at Glynlifon ,The Seniors will still be meeting there on Sundays and perhaps it may be possible to organise a night there for the juniors in the future .

We are very sorry that we have had to make this decision and I am sure that you are all disappointed .

We have had a very happy time at Talysarn and have enjoyed your company, helping and teaching you and the other juniors . Thank you for the fun and the joy.

Xmas celebrations

T'was a cold wintry evening when we went down 'Jacks'
for our Christmas Dinner and wore our funny hats.
Some had turkey, some had pork and after pulling all the crackers,
All began to talk.

There was mirth and merriment galore, as people rolled upon the floor.
There was talk of 'Piles' and of 'Butts' and 'Loosing off' of course.

Some recalled,when at the butts they struck some gold or very nearly caught, a cold!
Some recalled those moments magic, Some recalled those moments tragic,
some of them bad and some of them good,some in the centre,some in the wood !

Undetered and undismayed, with all their badges well displayed
on to tournaments they competed and returned the UNDEFEATED.

This Saturday is the Snowdon marathon event, we have been offered the oportunity to provide the Have-a-go archery to raise some more funds. good luck to all those who are supporting the event.

Fund Raising at Tesco's

Well done those Guys ... inspite of the inclement weather and thanks to the efforts of those who supported the club at the Tesco Have- a- go on Sat 4th July, they raised a total of £80 . the money is to go the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

This blog is about Subs, I don't mean the undersea variety but the Subscription type ! All members are reminded that 2009/2010 Club Fees are now due [overdue] you will soon recieve a letter and form . Please send / give your Sub Fees to Clare our membership secretary.

Please note that a resolution was passed at the AGM raising the 'Green fees' by 50p to £2.50 .

Here's shot to be pleased about. Clare managed to bag three golds on Sunday with a borrowed longbow,Well done Clare. And well done to all of you as you strive to keep up the standard.

If you want a challenge lets go in for tA postal competition, although truth to tell it's actualy an internet competition. It will carry handicaps so that every one has a fair chance .

A.G.M news update

Following the A.G.M on Friday there have been some changes. Our beloved Val has decided to stand down. As the secretary of the club from its inception. Val has worked tirelessly on our behalf to seek out and obtain grant funding, help formulate our child protection and health and safety policies, and liased with the G.N.A.S for our membership and too many other numerous demands on her time to list. Diolch yn Fawr Val.
At the A.G.M Geoff gave a brief resume of the clubs activities over the past year
and Roy gave us a detailed report of the clubs finances.

The task of secretary has passed to me. Peter Masters, I am currently Hon Sec for a local history society and have also been company secretary and treasurer of a local trade & tourism company. Val has set a high standard which I will do my best to maintain. As you may have realised I am also webmaster and blog writer for the club and hope to put my IT skills to help introduce some colorful additions !
Geoff and Roy will carry on in their exalted positions ably assisted by Clare ,Arthur and Pat.

Hopefully there will be soon be some exiting news on the membership front as we hope to remove the yoke of the G.N.A.S fees. watch this space !

For those who want to enjoy a summer evening shoot we are trying to book time with Glynlifion but the cost must covered by those attending !

Please note the Sunday morning shoot will start an hour earlier than present. 10 o'clock for the summer months .

Junior compettiton

Congratulations to all those who took part in the Junior competition on Friday. every body performed well and it was a very close finish for the girls with just one point between Ceri and Rhian.136 with 1 gold /137 and 3 golds. Bethan did well although she trailed at the finish due to an arm injury. Sioned came first for the girls with 180. 1x and 3 golds. Just one point ahead on 181. 1x was Tomos for the boys ,with his compound and Owain held his nerve and finished with a 123. shooting a gold on his final round.
Each of the the winners were presented medals medals and all the competitors received a certificate . Well done .

Red Feathers

Feathers were flying all round on Friday evening the 27th Feb . The first entrants for the Red feather awards were put through their paces and having acheived the required scores and having demonstrated their knowledge of Basic archery and safety, Owain. Daffyd and Tomos were awarded their badges and presented to them by the club President, Geoff Williams . Well Done

Congratulations to all the team who represented us last week at Deeseide we now have the results and in the North Wales Lady bare bow: Clare came second . In the North Wales Gentlemans bare bow: Morris was a worthy winner in a class of his own.

Ian came second in the North Wales Gentlemans Compound and Emma also came second in her class

In the North Wales Gentlemans Recurve : Arthur and Roy put in a creditable performance but sadly not enough golds to make the cut.

Archery competition News

Morris, Man of the match . On Saturday 21st Feb Morris exceeded all expectations and won the Barebow category in the north Wales Archery Societie's 34th Indoor championship in the Deeside liesure centre. Morris is a recently qualified novice archer and this was his first competiton !
Morris was a member of the team Representing Dyffryn Nantlle Archers. Ian, Emma,Roy, Clare, Arthur, Geoff, who all shot well and bring the club credit with their efforts.
We have no scores or other results yet but details will be posted when we get them
